The 2023 Jocote Corona festival in El Salvador: October 8 at the Cerro Verde National Park

The Jocote Corona festival in El Salvador is a colorful and lively cultural event dedicated to celebrating the Jocote fruit. This annual event brings together locals and tourists to enjoy music, dance, food, and the unique flavors of this beloved fruit.

The 2023 Salvadoran Jocote Corona festival is set for October 8 at the Cerro Verde National Park in the department of Santa Ana. This festival celebrates the harvest of this delicious fruit in one of the excellent areas for its planting.

The Jocote festival will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors will be able to purchase different dishes, drinks, and sweets made from this delicious fruit.

We hold the Jocote Corona Fair to be able to support producers in the surrounding areas. We are prepared to receive 8,000 visitors or more.” Eny Aguiñada, ISTU President.

According to the Salvadoran Institute of Tourism (ISTU), the Jocotes and different products made from this fruit will be supplied by Finca Vista Hermosa and Finca San Jorge.

Finca Vista Hermosa and Finca San Jorge sit on the slopes of Cerro Verde Park and produce approximately 23 thousand jocotes per day during the harvest period.

You cannot miss the delicious gastronomy based on jocote, such as French desserts such as macaroons and eclairs made with jocote jelly, artisanal pizza with chipotle and jocote dressing, cold drinks with espresso and jocote extract, flavored ice creams with traditional Salvadorans like jocote in honey or also the jocote cheesecake version, to name a few. This year, 12 product categories are participating: crafts, drinks, jewelry, footwear, natural cosmetics, typical sweets, gastronomy, desserts, ice cream, snacks, textiles, and jellies.

At the Jocote festival, there will be no shortage of delicious and varied cuisine made with that sweet fruit, such as desserts, artisanal pizza, cold drinks, atoles, pupusas, and sorbet, to name just a few.

The Salvadoran Institute of Tourism (ISTU), the organizer of the fair, will have a bus service (Buses Alegres) available to the public for $7.00 per person departing from San Salvador.
