The aroma of roasted pork will once again fill the streets of San Rafael Obrajuelo this Sunday, October 19, as the town celebrates one of its most anticipated traditions—the San Rafael Obrajuelo Pork Festival.

This lively gastronomic event blends culinary heritage, culture, music, dances, community spirit, and fun activities for all ages.

Starting at noon, the district’s main streets will be transformed into a vast open-air barbecue pit, featuring the largest barbecue grill in El Salvador: 30 meters of pure flavor.

Held as part of the patron saint festivities honoring San Rafael Arcángel, the municipal government has organized a diverse program of cultural and recreational activities that will run from October 10 to 24.

The San Rafael Obrajuelo Pork Festival celebrates the town’s culinary roots. Visitors would be able to taste over 25 pork-based dishes prepared by local cooks and vendors.

From tasty chicharrones and smoky ribs to tender hams, meatballs, soups, and the ever-popular yuca con chicharrón, every bite reflects the region’s gastronomic pride.

Pork is one of the municipality’s main assets, boosting the local economy. The event aims to generate income for those involved in this sector, as well as to raise awareness of a festival that has become a part of San Faelenses’ identity.

The Pork Festival has become a culinary highlight in La Paz. It is one of many notable small Salvadoran gastronomic festivals held throughout the year.

This festival attracts hundreds of visitors each year who enjoy its family-friendly atmosphere, its hospitality, and, above all, its exquisite traditional cuisine.

Admission is entirely free, and the invitation is open to all who wish to experience a unique experience in the heart of San Rafael Obrajuelo.
