The General Directorate of Migration and Immigration of El Salvador launched a new digital platform to simplify the passport renewal process for all Salvadorans over 18 years of age.

Ricardo Cucalon, the Director General of Migration and Immigration, announced the application at a December 5 press conference. The renewal process is executed through the following website: pasaporteenlinea.migracion.gob.sv.

We are a government that continues to work jointly for the benefit of the entire population. Starting today, all Salvadorans will be able to renew their passport by entering. Ministry of Migration and Immigration of El Salvador.

Ricardo Cucalon commented that it was necessary to clarify that the value of renewing the passport online is the same as doing it in person ($25.00). He also reiterated that Salvadoran citizens who wish to complete the procedure online must be in the country.

Salvadoran authorities stated that the development of the new digital platform aims to enhance accessibility to services, particularly for individuals without a nearby branch or facing challenges in attending in person.

“The web application has been crafted to facilitate the renewal of travel documents, ensuring a user-friendly and intuitive interaction, expressed Cucalon.

Upon accessing the platform, users can smoothly complete the entire process, as a significant portion of the application’s information is automatically retrieved from the Migration database and the National Registry of Natural Persons (RNPN).

“This is another step on the path of innovation and modernization of our services and has been the result of months of research and articulated work by a multidisciplinary team,” said the Director, Ricardo Cucalón.

Those opting for online passport renewal will have the flexibility to collect their passports at any of the 8 branches, where Immigration will designate a special window for document delivery.

The new online service to renew your passport is for people over 18 years of age who live in El Salvador.
