Everything in town is sold at small mom-and-pop stores, which is an attraction of undeveloped beach towns.

As I previously mentioned, the area of El Cuco is underdeveloped; therefore, finding the proper accommodation that fits all of your needs might be an issue.

That said, there are lodging options available. While they are generally well-rated, choices are limited, so planning ahead is essential. If you’re staying for a few days, booking in advance is best.

Playa El Cuco is located within the San Miguel department on the eastern coast of El Salvador.

Reaching El Cuco can be challenging. The beach is about 140 kilometers from the international airport and roughly 175 kilometers from San Salvador.

Getting to El Cuco may get easier after 2025 as the Salvadoran government is investing over $40 million to improve roads along the Pacific coastline all the way to El Cuco.

But as of today, whether driving, taking a shuttle, or using public transportation, getting to Playa El Cuco takes time—so plan accordingly.
