Imagine a place where cool, clear water flows from the mountains, creating pools perfect for swimming and playing. Welcome to Los Chorros Recreational Park or “Parque Recreativo Los Chorros,” a magical spot in El Salvador where nature and fun come together!

At Los Chorros, water from the San Salvador volcano seeps through the rocks, forming beautiful waterfalls and natural pools. These pools are like nature’s swimming pools, where you can splash and swim surrounded by green trees and colorful flowers.

Los Chorros Recreational Park is located about 18 kilometers west of San Salvador, just off the Pan-American Highway between the cities of Santa Tecla and Colón.

The park’s natural landscapes offer a refreshing escape from urban life, making it an ideal location for family outings, picnics, or simply relaxing in nature.

Fun for Everyone

Whether you’re a little kid or a grown-up, there’s something for everyone at Parque Recreativo Los Chorros.

The park offers shallow pools for younger children to splash and play safely. Deep pools are perfect for diving in and cooling off if you enjoy swimming. The water slides add extra excitement for those looking for a thrill.

When it’s time to take a break, families can relax in the picnic areas and enjoy lunch together, surrounded by nature.

According to the Salvadoran Tourism Institute (ISTU), the Park covers 12 blocks of land or about 8.4 hectares. It features four natural water pools, a 5-meter-high slide, fun water games for children, and a beautiful natural setting sure to make you fall in love.

The park is open daily, Monday through Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Entrance fees are $1.50 for Salvadorans and $3.00 for foreign visitors. Children under 6, adults over 60, and people with disabilities can enter for free.

A Park with History

Los Chorros Recreational Park opened in 1957 to honor Raúl Contreras, a famous Salvadoran poet. In 1975, it hosted part of the Miss Universe pageant. After earthquake damage forced it to close in 2001, the park reopened in 2008—better than ever.
