Salvadoran Foreign Minister of the Republic, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, responded to the US Embassy’s news: “The inclusion of our country in the Global Entry program is a clear example of the excellent relationship between El Salvador and the United States.”

“This achievement, which will facilitate the mobility of our citizens and promote bilateral trade, reaffirms our strategic position in the region,” remarked the Minister.

The Global Entry Program is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) initiative designed to expedite the entry process for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon their arrival in the United States.

Participants in the program benefit from streamlined customs screening, skipping traditional lines, and using automated kiosks at select airports.

This program is open to U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents of the United States, or citizens of countries with which the border office has a trusted traveler arrangement.

The current Latin American countries in the program are Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Panama.

One of the main benefits of Global Entry is expedited processing at entry airports, allowing members to bypass long lines at passport and customs controls.

Participants use automated kiosks to scan their passports and fingerprints, complete a customs declaration, and receive a receipt to proceed quickly.

Additionally, Global Entry membership includes access to TSA PreCheck, which streamlines security screening for domestic and international flights departing from U.S. airports.

The program is ideal for frequent international travelers, offering a seamless and time-saving re-entry experience into the United States.
