The Latin American Association of Professional Surfers (ALAS) announced on November 5 that the 2021 ALAS Pro Tour surfing championship will be hosted by El Salvador.

This surfing event will take place at Punta Roca beach in La Libertad, from December 2 to 5. It will be the last surfing competition of the 2021 ALAS Pro Tour season.

This surfing event will be another top international surf tournament hosted at the Surf City El Salvador beaches. Last May, El Salvador successfully hosted the 2021 ISA World Surfing Games.

The surf beaches in El Salvador are open for business. El Salvador received the Safe Destination Seal from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The WTTC approved all eight biosafety protocols put in place for the tourism sector.

Karin Sierralta, President of ALAS, indicated that “for ALAS, it is always an honor to be received by Surf City El Salvador and its people.”

This event is one of the most anticipated by the surfers who compete in the ALAS Pro Tour; for all that El Salvador offers and its excellent waves.” Karin Sierralta.

According to ALAS, this surf event has a 6-Star Prime designation. Surfers will compete for over $40,000 in prizes and will receive important ALAS Ranking points.

The competition will offer equal payments for the Open Men and Open Women categories. Surfers can compete in the following categories, Open Men, Open Women, Junior (U18), and Longboard.

El Salvador has established itself as a top surfing destination. It also has demonstrated a capacity to organize and host international surf events.

All surf events held at Salvadoran beaches have been successful and had strict biosafety standards, guaranteeing the health of all participants.

We thank the Government of President Nayib Bukele for continuing its commitment to the development of surfing in the continent and closing the ALAS continental circuit in the waves of El Salvador.” Karin Sierralta.
